Gary helped to get the Sons recognized as a permanent member on The Western Broome Veterans Memorial Parade Committee, where he has actively assisted in the organization of the Memorial and Veterans Day Parades. Gary is a member of the Sons of The American Legion Squadron #1700 where he has served as Squadron Commander. Gary served as 2 terms as Broome County Commander and 1 year as Sixth District Commander. In the Detachment, Gary has worked his way up starting out serving as an Assistant Sgt-at-Arms, followed by Master-Sgt-at-Arms, 3 years as Historian, 2 years as Chaplain and 2 years as Vice Commander for the 5th and 6th Districts. Gary has been married to his wife Sandy for 7 years; they have 3 sons and 2 daughters as well as 4 grandchildren…..all of whom support The American Legion family.
