National Veteran's Assistance Day

As proud possessors of a priceless heritage, the Sons of The American Legion follow our parent organization, The American Legion, in its dedication to the Veterans of our country.

Our Past National Commander Raymond P. Giehll initiated a day to thank all who have answered the call to serve our country and the families of those deployed in harm’s way. The inaugural National Veterans Assistance Day was on Saturday, May 17, 2008, and Past National Commander Giehll had asked all 1500 Squadrons and our 320,000 members to participate.

We are seeking to assist Veterans, active duty personnel and/or their families, and every effort will be made to assist as many as possible. Assistance can be anything from chores around the house, errands or dinner and a chat.

This year it is being held on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

If you would like assistance, please contact your local Squadron of the Sons of The American Legion.
