Update from National

Preliminary plans are for a dinner on Friday evening. Information, as it becomes available will be posted here. Look for more information at or before the Spring N.E.C. meetings.

Ladies & Gentlemen, We wanted to give each of you a quick update on venues we are working on for our attendees’ enjoyment at the 2011 National Convention. Most of these venues are tentative and are provided to you for your information and planning as necessary. We are very excited about the possibilities if we can make all of these things happen so stay tuned as we progress to Minneapolis, MN and our 93rd National Convention. Friday, August 26, 2011 – American Legion Family night with the Twins. Game time is 7:00PM and we are working on several items at this point. More to follow.

Saturday, August 27, 2011 – American Legion Racing at Elko Speedway in Elko, MN. The Freedom Car races at approximately 7:00PM with a concert being held prior to the featured race at 7:00PM. We are working on several items at this point. More to follow.

Sunday, August 28, 2011 – 2011 national convention parade. Great parade route going right through the heart of the city on Nicollet Mall and finishing at the Minneapolis Convention Center. More to follow.

Monday, August 29, 2011 – “free concert” at the Minneapolis Convention Center featuring entertainment which all of you will find to be superb. More to follow.

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 – National Commander’s Banquet. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is confirmed as our entertainment. Tickets are $45.00 per person and each table is a round for 10 people. Departments may send their checks to this office, payable to National Treasurer of The American Legion, on or after January 1, 2011.

We are confident our American Legion Family members will enjoy the events we have planned for them as well as the business sessions of The American Legion and other aspects of our 93rd National Convention. We should have shuttle transportation, off-site bus transportation and airport ground transportation options as well as tour options to you on or before February 15, 2011. We thank each of you for your continued support and assistance. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You and Yours.

Sincerely, Your Convention & Meetings Team
